Week of September 26th, 2013

We have been practicing reading to ourselves from our book boxes.  We started with reading for only 3 minutes and we are building on one minute everyday.  We discussed that their are three different ways to read a book.  You can read the pictures, read the words, or retell the story.  This is part of a program called Daily 5.  There are 5 choices within Daily 5.  They are Read to Self, Read to Someone, Writing, Word Work, and Listening.  For more information about Daily 5 you can go to Daily 5 Info.

We started doing some work in our First Grade Math Books.
We practice counting this week.  One way we did this was by singing and dancing with this music video.  It also helped us get some of our wiggles out!

We listened to a book being read on TumbleBooks.  This is the website we use for Listening to Reading during our Daily 5 centers.  We listened to Franklin Goes to School.

Reminders:
Remember you can follow our blog by going to the bottom of this page and entering your email address.  You will be notified whenever something is posted to our blog.

Our PE days are on Wednesday and Friday. Please have students come to school with sneakers.  On Friday, it would be helpful if students came to school with their sneakers on because we have PE at 8:15.

Enjoy the long weekend!
