Where Did All the Girls Go?

Our girls were all off practicing for the talent show, so it was all boys for read aloud and word study.  We read Dinosaurs Love Underpants.  It was a big hit!

Super Scientist Day

I am a little late posting this but here is some of the fun from our Super Scientist Day.  The topic for the day was organisms.  A big thank you to all the parents that volunteered their time and Mr. Bouchard for helping us with our engineering task!

Readers Theater, 3D Shapes, and More!

We will be performing two different readers theaters for our third grade buddies next week.  Students have been busy practicing their parts.  They either have a part in The Little Red Hen or Why Bear Has a Stumpy Tail.  Students have been practicing in groups, with their reading buddies, and during independent reading time.  Readers Theaters are a great way to work on fluency and expression.
We started a new math unit about 3 dimensional shapes!  Students had to match 3D shapes to their "footprints".

We also planted carrots in the garden today with Mr. Bouchard.  However, we were too busy getting our hands dirty to take any pictures!

Shoe Graph

We investigated the question: what color shoes do we have in our class?  We created a physical graph and labeled it.  We also answered different questions about the information.

Collecting Data and Fun with the Flynn

We have started a new math unit about data.  We started by collecting and representing data from the class about the question: Would you rather be an eagle or a whale for a day?

Students then worked with a buddy to create a question, collect data, and create their own representation.

Next Friday, we are going to the Flynn Theater.  We are seeing Dragons Love Tacos.  We have been reading all five of the stories that helped to inspire the play.  The stories are Dragons Love Tacos, Cowgirl Kate and Cocoa, The Dot, The Interrupting Chicken, and Mercy Watson Goes for a Ride.  We were so lucky to have someone from the Flynn come and lead some fun activities about these five stories.  Students really got to try out their acting skills!
