Bubbles and Art!

Our school is participating in a fundraiser to raise money for our playground.  We are so lucky to have Mrs. Joppe helping us with our art project! Mrs. Joppe is a retired art teacher who used to work in our school district. Last Wednesday, she helped us start our colorful garden paintings.  She will be back in this Wednesday to help us finish it!  The piece students create will go home, but you can also purchase different things with the piece of artwork on it!

Publishing Party!

Today we celebrated finishing our Nonfiction writing unit.  We celebrated by sharing pieces with a buddy.  Students worked on giving each other meaningful compliments on their writing pieces.  We ended our celebration with chocolate chip cookies!  Pieces will be coming home this week, so be on the lookout!

Are Poem

Are Poem from Lily Henault on Vimeo.

This should have been posted last Friday! Sorry!

Four Winds and Publishers at Work!

We had Four Winds this week.  It was about animal teeth and skulls!

We finished publishing our Nonfiction books today.  Students edited and revised using a checklist.  They also colored the pictures and made covers for their books.  We are having our publishing party on Tuesday!  Our next writing unit is poetry.

I have posted a new link for students to use.  It has different force and motion games for students to play. We played 2 of the games together on the big whiteboard.  Students enjoyed making and testing their predictions!

Data Collection

We have been working on collecting data as scientists and mathematicians.  Students performed two different science experiments with balls and ramps this week.

In math, students worked with a buddy to form a survey question for the class.  Students worked together to ask their question, collect their data, and create a representation showing what they learned.  Today, students reported out to the whole class what they learned from their survey.  All the representations are up on our Marvelous Math Wall.
