Week of May 4, 2015

We have started using Try-A-Tiles.  They are number puzzles that practice different skills.  They help with counting, addition, subtraction, ordering, and logic.  These are now a choice during math menu.

Students worked in groups to build a wall out of different shapes.  The wall had to be shaped like a rectangular prism.
We played a game called Roll And Remove. This game helps with Additon fact fluency.

We started our poetry writing unit by exploring different kinds of poetry.  We have worked on adding sparkly words and sound words to our poetry.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!

The Month of April!

I am a little behind on posting for April!  Where has the time gone?

Our beans plants were a great success!  We were able to observe them as they grew.  We wrote predictions and observations about the bean plants.

We also grew a bean plant in the light and the dark.  We wrote and drew predictions and observations about these plants as well.

We have started Unit 9 in our math books.  We are learning about different 3-D shapes and their attributes.

We have finished up our fiction writing unit and we will be moving onto poetry next week.  Next Friday, we will be having a publishing party with the whole first grade!
