Word Wall Words and Convincing Our Readers

We are working on reading our word wall words quickly and using them to figure out other tricky words.  We added a list of word wall words to our book boxes.  We can practice reading them by ourselves or with a buddy.  We can also play Guess My Word with a buddy too!

We started our new writing unit.  It is persuasive writing.  We have started by trying to convince our writer about which stuffed animals are the best.  We are working on starting with our opinion and then giving our readers lots of reasons and details to convince them!

Choral Reading Our Me Poem

Me Poem from Lily Henault on Vimeo.

Publishing Party

Yesterday we got ready for our publishing party by reading our writing pieces to ourselves and different buddies in our classroom.

We had our publishing party with Mrs. Dana's class today.  Students shared their writing piece with a buddy and then gave compliments about each other's writing.  We continued out celebrating outside with a little extra recess!  We will be starting our new writing unit next week.

Here is our newest poem!  Enjoy your weekend!

Our Has Poem

New App!

Next week we will be starting a new unit in math about shapes.  We used the app called Geoboards to get our brains thinking about shapes.  This will be the app that students can be working on during Math Menu.

During Math Menu, we tried out the math game called Numerical Order on ABYCA.  It helps ut to identify and order numbers up to 100.

Visitors in Our Classroom!

Ms. Reinhardt (Our Math Specialist) came in and did a number talk with us about Tens Frames and partners to ten.  The students were great listeners and shared a lot of great math thinking!
We had our first Four Winds about Spiders this week!  There was a puppet show, REAL spiders, a spider puzzle, and we explored the outside for signs of spiders.  Thank you to the wonderful moms that came to teach us!

Friday Poem Reading

Here we are choral reading our Go poem.  Enjoy!

Nonfiction Reading and Community

Today during Social Studies everyone read with a buddy to learn about a certain community helper.  With their buddy they recorded three facts about that community helper and then presented to the class their learning.  They became our "experts" for that community helper.
