Kindness!
We are trying to catch people being kind in our classroom and recognizing their kindness by recording the act on a kindness paper and hanging it on our Wall of Kindness.

Duck or Rabbit? You Decide!
We read the book Duck! Rabbit! Students then had to decide which animal they saw and support it with reasons from the book. They also got to cut out and decorate their own Duck or Rabbit to support their thinking. Check out all their hard work on our bulletin board!

Fire Truck, Tie Dye, and I Can Statements!
The firefighters came to visit and teach us about their gear, the fire truck, and fire safety.
We had so much fun tie dying, and the shirts came out so great! Don't forget to wash them separately.
We also wrote "I Can" reading statements. Students chose and wrote a reading strategy that they thought they were really good at from our Word Detectives unit. They are hanging in the hallway, so check them out!

Third Grade Buddies!
Our Paws points celebration this week was getting to meet our third grade buddies! Third graders chose a first grader to be their buddy. We will keep the same buddies all year. For our first meeting, we greeted our buddies, read books to each other, and worked on giving reading compliments.

Making Maps and Reading with Buddies!
We started working on the second half of our Community Unit which is about maps. This week we tried to map our classroom.
We have been trying out different things we can do with our reading buddies. One way to read is to take turns reading pages in the same book.
Today we used sticky notes to record words that had endings on them. We are focusing on the endings -ed, -s, and -ing.
