Week of January 2nd, 2012

This student chose to do word work during Daily 5 time.  This week we worked on words that had the ink, ank, onk, and unk sounds.

During writing this week, students wrote letters to someone who lived in their house with them.  Students addressed their envelopes before we left for vacation, as part of learning about maps during social studies.  So be on the look out for a special delivery in the mail!

Students learned a new game in math called Missing Numbers.  This game helps students to identify and write numbers 1 through 100.

Math Centers

Students practiced telling time with me this week.  They practiced telling time on analog and digital clocks.  On the BrightLink, students played 100 Number Grid and Base Ten Bingo.  On Base Ten Bingo, students worked with numbers in the hundreds.  On the Ipads, students played three apps to help with subtraction skills.  These apps were called Meteor Math, PopMath, and Math Garden.
