Week of April 8th, 2013

We have been busy observing and writing about our seeds in our Science Journals!  They have started to sprout, so we were able to plant them.

Mrs. Jop came to visit us again!  We are so lucky!  This time she helped us make circle books.  We used them to show the life cycle of a plant.  They came out beautifully.  Next week, we will be sharing our books with Mrs. Baer's class, and teaching them about the life cycle of a plant.

Today, we played Addition Quizmo.  This is just like bingo, and it helps us work on our addition facts!

Math Centers
When students visited Ms. Henault, they reviewed coins and played Money Bingo.  Students on the Ipads worked on two apps called Coins and Zoom.  Students at the Problem Box Center worked on writing and solving combination problems.  An example of this is, "I have 10 crayons.  Some are red.  Some are blue.  How many could I have of each?"  With this story problem students must think of all of the combinations that equal 10.  Mr. Bouchard taught us an app on Thursday called Math Link Up.  This helps students practice solving for two missing addends  (__+__=10).  This is similar to the combination problems. Math Link Up is a free app!

Our new read a loud book is Bunnicula by Deborah and James Howe.  Ask your first grader all about it!

Our Word Wall words are who, where, and my.
